Frequently Asked Questions about Nexus

Tags Nexus FAQ

All of my students are saying they can't see my Nexus course when they login. How do I make it visible to them?

Make sure you toggle the visibility of your course website from "hide" to "show", (under gear icon πŸ‘‰ Edit Settings πŸ‘‰ General πŸ‘‰ Course visibility πŸ‘‰ Show) when you are ready for your students to view your site.

What do I do if I am missing a course I'm expecting to see under "My Courses"?

If you do not see an expected course website listed, it may mean that ITS has not received the course/enrollment data yet. Please contact us through the ITS Service Catalog with the course title, course ID number, and instructor name and indicate you are missing a course website in Nexus.

How do I add a student that is missing to my course site in Nexus?

If you do not see an expected student listed as a Participant in your Nexus course site, please contact us through the ITS Service Catalog with the student's full name/email, course title, course ID number, and instructor name.

How do I unenroll a student from my Nexus course?

To unenroll a student, click on the gear icon πŸ‘‰ More πŸ‘‰ Users πŸ‘‰ Enrolled Users. Find the student that you’d like to unenroll and click the β€œx” icon. The Enterprise enrollment (i.e., feed from the Registrar) cannot be manually unenrolled.

Is it possible to rename a course in Nexus?

At this time, it is only possible to rename the β€œlong name” of the course, which is the name that is shown on homepage to you and your students. To do so, click on the gear icon πŸ‘‰ Edit Settings πŸ‘‰ Course full name and change it to what you’d like. The short name and course ID cannot be changed because it is used for reporting and troubleshooting. As such the Short Name and Course ID both need to remain static.

How do I combine multiple sections of a single course I am teaching into one Nexus course website?

We can combine students from multiple sections of a course into a single Nexus site using what is called a "metacourse" in Moodle. This will be transparent to you and your students, and will enroll all students in one primary course that you can use to post material, assignments, and other resources and activities. Please notify us of your request through the ITS Service Catalog.

How do I get training for creating/managing a course in Nexus?

Please contact our Learning Design & Digital Innovation team through the ITS Service Catalog to schedule training.
