If you receive an email that seems suspicious you can mark it as phishing by following the steps below. If you feel that it should be brought to the attention of ITS, forward the message to: infosec@union.edu with any pertinent details.
When Google identifies that an email may be phishing or suspicious, it might show a warning or move the email to Spam. If an email wasn't marked correctly, follow the steps below to mark or unmark it as phishing.
Important: When you manually move an email into your Spam folder, Google receives a copy of the email and any attachments. Google may analyze these emails and attachments to help protect our users from spam and abuse.
To report a phishing email in your Gmail, you can:
1. Click the three vertical dots in the upper right corner of the email
2. Click Report phishing
3. Click Report Phishing Message
Reporting phishing emails to Google helps them protect users from spam and abuse.
If you think an email has been incorrectly marked as phishing
1. Open the email in Gmail on a computer
2. Click More next to Reply
3. Click Report not phishing
You can also report phishing to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
