What is the Activity Completion feature?Image: the Mark As Done button

The Activity Completion feature is a helpful way for students to be able to track their progress in a course through the use of checkboxes on the side of activities. Teachers can set completion criteria in a specific activity's settings including viewing, receiving a certain score or a student marking it as complete. Either the student or the Teacher can mark the activity as Done, depending on the settings.

How can this feature help my students?

  • The students will be able to see a checklist of their progress at a glance.
  • It can help with time management for their courses.
  • It can be linked with Course Completion so that both students and faculty can see progress through the course.
  • You can set criteria where a student is allowed to progress through a course and access materials.

Why is the Activity Completion Feature on by default?

We keep this feature enabled by default, as it helps your students keep track of their progress in your course.  This means a "Mark as Done" button appears in each section on your Nexus site. Turning this feature off may have ramifications for other activities, e.g., require watching a video before taking the quiz.
