Accessing the Digital Studio

General Access Requirements

The Digital Studio spaces (Production Studio, Podcast Booth, and ConnectIT Lab) are available during normal Schaffer Library business hours. All users must:

Recurring reservations are considered on a limited, case-by-case basis within the current term, after faculty requests are prioritized at the start of each term. For class projects involving multiple student groups, please notify us early in the term. Training sessions for an entire class may be scheduled during course time or separately.

FACULTY/STAFF

To reserve a space, faculty and staff must:

  • Be a full-time Union College employee
  • Have an active Union College computer account and ID card
  • Be present for the duration of their scheduled event
  • Receive confirmation of the reservation before access

Meetings must actively use the technology provided in the space. Recurring reservations are allowed on a limited basis within the current term and are reviewed on a case-by-case basis after faculty requests are received at the start of each new term. Please provide at least 3 business days’ notice for all reservation requests. If the reservation is for a class project where multiple student groups will use the facilities, we ask that you notify us as early in the term as possible. We can also arrange a training session for the entire class, either during course time or as a separate session.

STUDENTS

Students may use these spaces for academic projects, provided they have a sponsoring faculty or administrative staff member. The sponsoring faculty or administrative staff member needs to submit a ticket through the Helpdesk at least 3 business days prior to the reservation date to allow for training sessions.

The ticket should include:

  • Confirmation of support for the student’s project
  • The academic nature of the project (course, senior project, event, etc.)
  • Whether the sponsor will be present (and trained)
  • The desired space (Podcast Booth, Production Studio, or ConnectIT Lab)
  • Requested dates and times (for training and/or recording)

An LDDI staff member or LDDI Student Liason will be present for the duration of the reservation if the sponsoring faculty or administrative staff member is unable to be present. If this is the case,  the email must also include a request for a staff member to be scheduled.

NOTE: Training is required before any faculty, staff, or student may use any part of the Digital Studio. Once training is complete, card access and reservations can be granted.
