Checking Attendance through Reports in your Zoom Account
This option is performed after your Zoom meeting has ended, and will give you a spreadsheet where you can organize your data such as alphabetizing or sorting.
NOTE: You cannot do this through the Zoom LTI in Nexus. It must be done in your web browser in your Zoom account.
- In your web browser, log into your Zoom account.
The link for Union's Zoom is https://union.zoom.us/.
- In the left sidebar, click on [Reports] and then select [Usage].
- Enter your date range and click on the blue [Search] button. The date range is limited to one month.
- Click on the [Toggle columns] link and you can choose which columns you'd like to display and download by clicking in the check boxes to select or deselect the columns.
- Click on the number in the Participants column for your meeting to get a full list of the participants that you can download in a CSV file.
Now you should see a list of the participants who attended your meeting.
- If wanted, check the [Export with meeting data] box. This will put your meeting information such as meeting ID, topic, date/time, duration, and other summary information, at the top of your spreadsheet.
- If wanted, check the [Show unique users] box. This will eliminate duplicate users who may have left the meeting and re-entered. or various reasons such as logging out and logging back in to improve their connection.
- Click the blue [Export] button to start the download.
A CSV file will be downloaded that can be opened with MS Excel, uploaded to your Google drive, etc.
Using the Chat Room for Attendance
This option needs to be done while you are in a meeting. It will not give you any other information other than who entered their name in the chat and the time. The file is saved as a .txt file.
Start your Zoom meeting just as you normally would.
- As your students arrive, have them enter the chat room by clicking on the [Chat] icon at the bottom of the Zoom window, and enter their names.
- When you're students have entered their names and you're ready to take attendance, click on the menu dots in the upper right corner of the box where you enter text., and select [Save Chat].
- A bright green box will appear to tell you that your Chat has been saved.
Click on the link to [Show in Folder].
You'll notice that a new Zoom folder was created in your Documents folder, and that's where this file resides. The file is saved as a .txt file which is text file with no formatting. The file generally opens with your default Notepad, but you can also open it using MS Word or other word processing programs.
