Setting up "Start Before Login" on the VPN

Set up your PC/Windows computer on the Union domain to log into VPN before logging into your computer

1. Double click on the [Cisco AnyConnect] Icon on your desktopImage: Cisco AnyConnect logo or, click on the Start Menu, Type [Cisco Anyconnect] and click the icon that appears at the top of the list.

2. Once open, click the [Connect] button.

3. At the next screen, select one of the following from the [Group] drop-down menu:

  • If you are a Faculty member, select the [Faculty-SBL] group
  • If you are a Staff member, select the [Staff-SBL] group
  • If you are in the ITS group, select the [ITS-SBL] group

After selecting your group, enter your Union username and password in the designated fields and click [OK].

4. When this message pops up,  click [Accept] to continue.

6. When you get to the login screen, you will now see an icon in the lower right-hand corner of the screen that looks like dual monitors. Click on that icon.

7. When the windows pop up, once again select the appropriate group:

  • If you are a Faculty member, select the [Faculty-SBL] group
  • If you are a Staff member, select the [Staff-SBL] group
  • If you are in the ITS group, select the [ITS-SBL] group

After selecting your group, enter your Union username and password in the designated fields and click [OK].

9. You will now be brought back to the main login screen, at which point you can now log in using your Union credentials as you normally would in your office.

 

 

 

 

 

10. Once installed, the new VPN icon on the login screen will always be available to use and it is strongly recommended that you use this new process to allow for a more secure and seamless sign-on experience by placing your computer on Union's network before logging into your account.
