Backing Up Student Submissions

Summary

Explains how to backup the student submission associated with your Nexus course.

Body

Why back up student submissions:

Courses are removed from Nexus on a rolling 5-year basis (see LMS Course Retention Policy). All student submissions to assignments are removed when Nexus course sites are deleted. The whole course backup does not include student submissions. If student submissions are needed, you will need to back them up separately.

What can be done with the backup:

The backup will come in the form of a .zip file with the raw student submissions inside. The filenames of the submissions include the submitter’s name to aid in identification. The files can be opened locally in the original file type’s respective application.

How to back up student submissions:

1. Log in to Nexus at nexus.union.edu and open the course where you are backing up student submissions.

2. Click on the assignment you are backing up student submissions from. (If you need to back up multiple assignments, you need to repeat the process for every assignment.)

3. Click on [View all submissions] below the Grading Summary.

4. Under Grading Action chose [Download all submissions]. The assignment submissions will download in a .zip file format to your local computer.
