Zarca is an online survey solution with a pre-designed surveys bank, data analysis & reporting, charts & graphs, etc., and provides user-friendly step-by-step survey creation.

Union College is transitioning from Zarca to Qualtrics.  Users will have access to Zarca through June 30, 2020.

Contact Ellen Yu, Chief Information Officer, for a Zarca account. The college's contract includes support from Zarca so an account holder can submit a support ticket in Zarca and they can help with setting up a survey.

Once you have a Zarca account, you will get an email from ITS with your login information.

Go to zarca.com and click on the [Client Login] link in the upper right corner of your browser window.

Enter the username and password you were given in the email. Once you are in, please change your password by going to the drop down box in the upper right hand corner of the browser window next to your name (it may show your initials) and select the [Settings] option.  Click on the [Change Password] link on the left hand menu and follow the steps.


Exporting your data from Zarca

It is recommended that you export your data in CSV format

View your projects and find the survey you want to export.

Click on the icon circled above to start the download process.  

Select CSV.

If you have not exported your data for this survey before, you will be prompted to prepare the data for export.  Click Continue.

You will see a progress bar and when the export is complete you will see something similar to the above.  Click the green Export Responses button at the bottom of the window.

You will see the list of questions on your survey.  By default all questions are selected to be exported.  If you desire to have all questions exported, click the green Continue button at the bottom of the window.

You are given the option to export respondent attributes such as the IP address, email address, browser type, OS or screen resolution in addition to the response start and end times.  Note:  If you select response start and end times, you will capture dates.

If you do not need to apply any conditions to the export (i.e. you want only a certain set of the responses exported) or assign codes to the responses, you can click the blue Export Now button on the bottom right of the window.

Your CSV file will download to your computer.  The naming format of the file will be SoGoSurvey_Name of survey.csv. This file can be opened in Excel for further analysis.
